What is Super TET? How is it different from CTET?

The Super Teacher Eligibility Test, also known as Super TET, is one of the eminent examinations conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board to select the best candidates in the teaching profession and teach at the primary and secondary levels in government schools.

Super TET exam is conducted annually via offline mode to gauge a candidate’s intellectual ability and assess whether they have what it takes to build a career in the teaching domain to improve the quality of education imparted in government schools.

There are two levels of Super TET:

  1. Super TET Primary

After qualifying for this exam, the aspirant can become a government teacher for the elementary school from class 1st to 5th, after meeting any one of the following requirements:

  • The  aspirants should have passed the senior secondary school with at least 50% marks and passed 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education
  • The aspirants should have passed senior secondary school with at least 50% and possess a 4-years B.EI.ED Degree
  • The  aspirants should have a senior secondary school with at least 50% marks and have cleared in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Education (Special Education)
  • The aspirants should complete the graduation and pass a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • The aspirants should have a Graduation Degree as well as the B.Ed Degree.
  1. Super TET Junior

After qualifying for this exam, the aspirant can become a government teacher for the primary school from class 6th to 8th, after meeting the all following requirements:

  • The aspirants should have a bachelor’s degree and the BTC from National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
  • The aspirants should have a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks and the B.Ed/ B.Ed Special Education from the Rehabilitation Council of India.
  • The aspirants should have completed their Intermediate studies with at least 50% marks with 4-years in B.A/ B.Sc.Ed/ B.A.Ed with any recognized institute from N.C.T.E and UGC.
  • The aspirants should have passed with at least 50% marks in their intermediate and 4-years in B.El.Ed in Primary Education.
  • The aspirants should have a bachelor’s degree with at least 45% marks and also a B.Ed Degree.

 While in both the categories, the candidate should also meet the age limit specified by the board, i.e., 21 years to 40 years, with the following relaxation:

  • Age relaxation of 3 years is given to the aspirants belonging to the OBC Category.
  • For the candidates belonging to the SC/ST Category, there is an age relaxation of up to 5 years.
  • While for the candidate coming from the Pwd Category, there is an age relaxation of up to 15 years, only if the age of such candidate shall not be more than 55 years on the appointment date.

Other than the former mentioned educational and age qualification, the candidate must also have the UPTET/CTET Exam Certificate to be eligible for appearing for Super TET Exam.

Even though the CTET exam is also a Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by the central government to recruit teachers similar to the SuperTET, there are several differences between the two exams and career prospects in the later stages.

The Uttar Pradesh Government conducts it for recruiting the teachers for primary and secondary schools annually. CTET, on the other hand, is conducted by the CBSE on behalf of the Central Government twice every year.

 

Scope

 

If one admires settling in Uttar Pradesh, then Super TET is the best option allowing you to serve in regional schools and colleges in the state.

 

After successfully clearing the CTET they can get jobs in any Central Government schools such as KendriyaVidyalayaSangathan and NavodayaVidyalayaSamiti.

 

Frequency of the examination

 

The frequency of the Super TET exam depends upon the vacancies being opened in the government schools of the state.

 

The notification regarding the CTET Exam is announced twice every year by the central government.

 

Age Limit

 

Candidates applying for this exam have to abide by a certain age bar of 21-40 years for being eligible for appearing in the exam, with certain relaxation given to the reserved categories.

 

There are no such restrictions on age for the aspirants sitting for the CTET examination.

 

Paper Medium

 

The aspirants sitting in Super TET can give their papers in English or Hindi, whichever language they find convenient.

 

While the candidates sitting for CTET have the advantage to opt for any language for writing their papers.

 

Validation of Certificate

 

The Super TET Certification is valid for 5 years.

 

The CTET certificate is valid for up to 7 years.
